Dr. Nicholas Snyder is pleased to announce that he has been awarded his Webster Technique Certification from the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). Dr. Nick was awarded a Certificate of Proficiency in the Webster Protocol and Dr. Lindsey renewed her certification at the Denver, Colorado seminar led by instructor Jeanne Ohm, DC.
Doctors who are certified in the Webster Technique are sought out by pregnant women preparing for safer and easier birth outcomes. Certified doctors are taught gentle adjusting techniques, individual case management systems and evidence based practice to best care for pregnant women.
Doctors who are awarded Webster Certification undergo a written and a clinical exam for proficiency. The Webster Technique includes a specific chiropractic sacral analysis and accompanying adjustment. In the care of pregnant women, a sacral misalignment may lead to difficult labor for the mother (i.e. dystocia). Dystocia is caused by inadequate uterine function, pelvic contraction, and baby mal-presentation. Correction of a sacral misalignment may have a positive effect on all of these causes of dystocia.
It is therefore considered very important that this specific sacral analysis and adjustment be used throughout pregnancy to detect and alleviate sacral imbalance and optimize pelvic neuro-biomechanics.
A pregnant woman’s body adapts due to the increase of hormones, weight gain and postural adaptations. This causes pregnant mothers to have a greater chance of sacral subluxation and neuro-biomechanical imbalance than the general population. Additionally, because of the effect the chiropractic adjustment has on all body functions by reducing nerve system stress, pregnant mothers should have their spines checked regularly throughout pregnancy, optimizing health benefits for both the mother and baby.
